Lalan Rubbers is built on the intrinsic belief that true success and progress is fostered on two key guiding principles – nurturing the lives of the people that work with us, and protecting the environment that provides for us. This represents not just the ethos of our company, but also our efforts to make more holistic, measurable, and sustainable changes to the symbiotic relationship with our environment. The same principles that have defined our approach to manufacturing and business development over the past 3 decades, now forms the foundation of our focus on sustainability.
Developed in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, our sustainability programs drives these changes through a structured, three pronged approach:
Water Recycling and Rainwater Harvesting
Water recycling and reusing initiatives, combined with extensive rainwater harvesting systems at our facilities, have reduced our water footprint by more than 25% – this means more than 20,000,000 liters of water annually.

Solar Power Generation
Solar power panels across most of our sites generate upwards of 4.5 MW annually; power not utilized for our own requirements is supplied to the national grid. Our target is to increase coverage across all our sites to 100% of our lighting requirements.
Certification | ISO 50001
Biomass Energy Generation
We use 100% sustainably farmed biomass for our facilities’ heating energy requirements. The switch from fossil fuels to biomass has significantly reduced our carbon footprint; we have put a stop to using more than 24 million liters of fossil fuels annually.

Land Conservation and Replanting Initiatives
We maintain non-commercial land holdings which are being replanted with endemic species of flora in orderto conserve the native eco-system. Annual replanting of our plantations and our other land holdings add over110,000 trees are added to ecosystem annually.
Certification | ISO 140001, FSC™ Forest Management Certification, Fair Rubber
Carbon Footprint Reduction
Through a combination of our plantations, tree replanting initiatives, and land conservation efforts, we are sequestering up to 109,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the next 30 years – as we audit and certify more of our initiatives, this number will continue to grow.
Certification | ISO 14064, ISO 14067, PAS 2050 Standards, GHG Protocol Product Standards

Waste Recycling and Upcycling Programs
Organic waste from our latex centrifuging operations is being converted to fertilizer, while we are trialing programs to recycle and upcycle waste from our glove manufacturing operations into shoe soles and floor mats.

Planned Housing for Employees
Plantation employees are provided, at no cost, detached housing units with individual plots of land – creating safer and more sustainable living conditions for their families.
Welfare Shops and Market

Comprehensive Medical Checks
All employees are assigned periodic medical checks, with specialized medical consults (i.e. eye checks, cardiovascular checks etc.) provided regularly. Our management teams also follow up on the prescriptions issued during these consults, ensuring they are fulfilled.
Vocational Training Programs
Comprehensive life-skill training happens regularly for our employees across all our operations, on various disciplines such as English language, vocational training, and soft-skill development.

Child Development Centers
Child development centers located within our plantations, provide day care and schooling for children of employees. Catered at no cost, our award winning initiative offers children education up to the Primary level, at which time they join the public school network. Benefits of this scheme are two-fold, as this also affords families the option of having both parents working, which essentially doubles the income of the family unit.
Safe Water Supply Programs
In addition to housing, we also have successfully completed water supply programs that have provided clean and safe water for our plantation employees and their homes.
